2 questions I would like to ask all candidates:
1) Do you believe that we should merger with the Liberals, to form government
2) How much control are you prepared to give to the caucus to develop policy?

Definitely says no to a merger with the Liberals.

Umm Mike. To your first point. I think the Liberals are a dying breed. They’re already on the endangered species list. Their vote pretty much abandoned them on election night. Why? Weak leadership, weak candidates, and tired old crap. And here’s a secret, most of the Liberal vote that ran away from Iggy on election night, went Conservative in most of the country, except Quebec where it predominantly went NDP. The red wing of the Liberal party had been a dying breed under both Martin and Iggy. So my question to you is, how would merging with the Liberals allow us to form government? And a follow up is one of strategy. If the Liberals were where the NDP is now, would they immediately start talking about merging with a party that in a lot of ways is ideologically opposite of them? The answer through history has been a flat out NO Freaking WAY.

So why should it be any different now? I don’t see any chance of merging with the Liberals, anymore than I see a merger with the mice and the Fat Cats who are hungry for power. And that is a direct allusion to Mouseland. Look at the field of candidates coming forward for the Liberals. Anyone inspiring? Trudeau-esque? Any sense of anyone with any charisma? Say what you will about the NDP leadership contest, at least there’s some character element there, whether you agree or disagree with their sentiments.
