PM Harper appointments five new Senators to the Upper Chamber

January 29, 2010 by theleftcoast.ca · 1 Comment

Nice work if you can get it; this morning Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced the appointment of five new senators. The lucky individuals are Pierre-Hugues Boisvenu of Quebec, Bob Runciman and Vim Kochhar of Ontario, Elizabeth Marshall of Newfoundland and Labrador and Rose-May Poirier of New Brunswick.

These newest appointments now provide the Conservatives with a majority in the Senate. Perhaps now we will see Harper proceed with his plans for a Triple E Senate, something he promised to do many years ago.

I noticed the funniest thing after posting this piece. When I clicked on the story to see how it looked post-publishing, I noticed the Google ads changed to “Worlds Most Famous Beach”. Does Google already know that the Senators will be spending more time on the beach than they will in the Upper Chamber? Coincidence?
