Save Our Rivers Society Launches their “Action Page”

The Save Our Rivers Society has recently announced that they have launched a new “Action Page” on their website.

The  Action Page provides you with a convenient opportunity to respond to Premier Campbell directly as an alternative to the proposed public submissions avenue offered via the task force website. We believe this can be a way to funnel our collective distaste for this fiction in a manner that does not validate the government’s efforts to legitimize the task force’s one month submission deadline as a viable process.

This wordpress page aims to serve as a hub for up-to-date, reliable, and accessible grassroots information concerned with the heated debate over renewable resources and energy policy development in BC. We hope to paint a complete picture for the public about the unintended consequences of the deep integration of our public electric system and how BC’s renewable resources are positioned to offset the continued growth of the Alberta Tar Sands, and increasing carbon consumption of the United States. Over time, we will roll-out a series of current articles, blogs and provide access to well researched reports from partner agencies and academics we trust, in an effort to provide clarification on the spin served by government, special interest groups and media.

The message Save Our Rivers advocates for will always be clear. Demanding that the Campbell government re-institute public involvement and oversight (ie Bill 30) incorporate regional and provincial land use planning to decide which area are environmentally and geographically appropriate for new energy projects, respect for first nations constitutional right to consultation, reinvest in our province’s crown utility by repealing the prohibition against BC Hydro constructing new and necessary energy projects, and stringent environmental assessment processes in all renewable resource development initiatives.

We will provide accessible “ACTIONS” that the public can take part-in regularily, and in the near future we want to offer offer a complete scope of upcoming events, actions, public open houses, etc hosted by the entire concerned community working to safeguard the vitality and sovereignty of our rivers, streams and watersheds. The purpose of these actions are to draw the public’s attention to, as well as maintain their engagement in the latest campaigns set to respond to Gordon Campbell’s disingenuous, secretive and undemocratic approach to renewable resource and energy policy development in BC.

If you agree with the content and believe this is a good action to take, visit the SOR action page and send your letter directly to the Premier and then PLEASE HELP US BY FORWARDING THIS URL to as many of your members, colleagues, family and friends concerned with the Provincial government’s aggressive push to privatize “green” energy development and policy in BC.
