Anti-Prorogue Rally-Vancouver and Victoria Report

January 24, 2010 by theleftcoast.ca · Leave a Comment

I went to our provincial capital to cover yesterday’s Anti-Prorogue rally and ended up standing in front of the Legislature watching someone dressed up like Darth Vader play the violin while I wondered where all the rallying crowds were hiding. Apparently they were “hiding” at the assigned spot, the city centre. I was at the wrong spot.

Very fortunately our senior Eastside correspondent made it down to Vancouver Art Gallery for the Vancouver day of action in support of democracy. The following report was filed.

Today’s rally was well attended by a good natured cross section of folks plus all the off-message Usual Suspects from various obscure groups. It was also good to see the ever present Raging Grannies in full bloom. (See pic below)

Rather than being highly organized as the Ottawa rally appeared on Kady O’Malley’s blog, the Vancouver rally seemed more West Coast Casual with an amorphous mass with no one particularly in charge…….
