An interesting blog a friend sent to me today, Clusterfuck Nation by James Howard Kunstler. The following is an excerpt from that blog;

Is there a Baby Boomer so dim in this land of rackets and swindles who thinks that he or she will escape the wrath of the Millennials rising? The developing story is so obvious that only an academic economist could fail to notice. Here’s how it will go: some months from now, as the financial unwind worsens, and the mirage of gainful employment shimmers away to nothing, and the technocrats of Europe meet nervously by some Swiss lakeside (and are seen glumly shaking their heads), and Romney and Obama try to out-do each other peddling miracle cures for the tanking national self-esteem – a dangerous meme will go forth across the internet, and this meme will say: Millennials, renounce your college loans and set yourselves free!

Let me knowwhat you think of it.Pretty radical ideas.

I’m having some difficulty trying to figure out how the Republicans in the USA figure they can afford to bomb the rest of the world into democracy if they refuse to ask their well-to-do constituents to pay taxes.

The financial world may look very different if the Republicans insist on continuing their pet wars in Afghanistan and Libya while refusing to entertain any changes to how these wars are financed.

Volatile America

The horrific shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and the death of six others, underscores the volatility that exists in the United States, and that they are anything but united. Two thirds of the world’s people live in less crime ridden nations than Americans. In the early nineteenth century they became the most homicidal country in the Western world and still hold that title.

Americans live in an incredibly violent country. Add the volatile politics. Words can create a life of their own and take us to places we would not choose to go. It’s not all about winning but how we treat the losers. Inclusion is the way to satisfy a multicultural nation – we haven’t figured that out in Canada either. That should say something for our political leaders.

In any case it’s up to EVERYONE, with the emphasis on parents, to teach our children to treat everyone equally and not disparage others because of race, religion or political views. We can all do a better job of teaching our children how to behave toward others, and it’s in our best interest to do so.

From our frequent contributor, William Perry;

Working toward a world free of nuclear weapons demands we not only critique the reactionary wing of the U.S. power structure and the example set by Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld, we must critique the US moderate wing, Obama, Biden and Clinton. The former group is psychotic, while the latter is merely cynical. After eight years of reckless reactionary psychotics, it’s easy to be lulled into a false sense of security by reasonable moderate cynics, but we should remember they are all cut from the same paranoid cloth.

Don’t misunderstand me – It isn’t because the Americans are like drunken frat-boys…drunk on power we hive them – It is because their on again/off again bevahiour within how they see themselves in the world that is scary. As one of many who is waiting to see what, if anything, the Nobel peace prize recipient will do, I get nervous when the tough words against Iran and North Korea, and if not for a different face, sounds just like the smirking Texan.

 Obama’s policy includes a commitment to nuclear weapons, conventional missile defense, and modernization of the nuclear complex. That’s why Obama is increasing expenditures on nuclear weapons, now over $50 billion a year, for modernization. Gulp!!!

 I dare say that Iran’s development of nuclear capabilities is likely about defense, as they have seen what happened to Iraq with the USA invasion looking for the WMD. I see Iran doing it for economic benefit. The development of nuclear will likely secure a place in the United Nations for Iran, and eventually achieve a similar status to that of Russia. That poses a bigger problem for the US than actual missiles being fired.

 How about Canada? The United States is more patient with us, content with the slow, gradual occupation, securing businesses, residents, and controlling resources.

 Former Canadian PM Pierre Trudeau, addressing the Washington, D.C., Press Club in 1969. said “Living next to you [the U.S.] is in some ways like sleeping with an elephant. No matter how friendly and even-tempered is the beast, one is affected by every twitch and grunt.” So is that a bad thing? It is if they roll over in their sleep and squash us. Best to sleep with one eye open.

We came across the following information sort of by happenstance and accident. I actually feel quite torn about reprinting it because I have no idea if any of the financial information or if any of the claims are correct. My rationale for reprinting it here was to demonstrate how some people in the USA think. The bottom line in the email encouraged the recipients to forward to as many people as you can and most importantly to remember this information in November when the elections are being held.

Tina Griego, journalist for the Denver Rocky Mountain News wrote a column titled, “Mexican visitor’s lament” –

She interviewed Mexican journalist Evangelina Hernandez while visiting Denver last week. Hernandez said, “They (illegal aliens) pay rent, buy groceries, buy clothes…what happens to your country’s economy if 20 million people go away?”

That’s a good question – it deserves an answer. Over 80 percent of Americans demand secured borders and illegal migration stopped. But what would happen if all 20 million or more vacated America? The answers may surprise you!

In California, if 3.5 million illegal aliens moved back to Mexico, it would leave an extra $10.2 billion to spend on overloaded school systems, bankrupted hospitals and overrun prisons. It would leave highways cleaner, safer and less congested. Everyone could understand one another as English became the dominate language again.

In Colorado, 500,000 illegal migrants, plus their 300,000 kids and grand-kids – would move back “home,” mostly to Mexico. That would save Coloradans an estimated $2 billion (other experts say $7 BIL) annually in taxes that pay for schooling, medical, social-services and incarceration costs. It means 12,000 gang members would vanish out of Denver alone.

Colorado would save more than $20 million in prison costs, and the terror that those 7,300 alien criminals set upon local citizens. Denver Officer Don Young and hundreds of Colorado victims would not have suffered death, accidents, rapes and other crimes by illegals.

Denver Public Schools would not suffer a 67 percent drop out/flunk out rate via thousands of illegal alien students speaking 41 different languages. At least 200,000 vehicles would vanish from our gridlocked cities in Colorado. Denver ‘s four percent unemployment rate would vanish as our working poor would gain jobs at a living wage.

In Florida, 1.5 million illegals would return the Sunshine State back to America , the rule of law and English.

In Chicago, Illinois, 2.1 million illegals would free up hospitals, schools, prisons and highways for a safer, cleaner and more crime-free experience.

If 20 million illegal aliens returned “home,” the U.S. economy would return to the rule of law. Employers would hire legal American citizens at a living wage. Everyone would pay their fair share of taxes because they wouldn’t be working off the books. That would result in a n additional $401 billion in IRS income taxes collected annually, and an equal amount for local state and city coffers.

No more push ’1′ for Spanish or ’2′ for English. No more confusion in American schools that now must content with over 100 languages that degrade the educational system for American kids. Our overcrowded schools would lose more than two million illegal alien kids at a cost of billions in ESL and free breakfasts and lunches.

We would lose 500,000 illegal criminal alien inmates at a cost of more than $1.6 billion annually. That includes 15,000 MS-13 gang members who distribute $130 billion in drugs annually would vacate our country. In cities like L.A, 20,000 members of the ” 18th Street Gang” would vanish from our nation. No more Mexican forgery gangs for ID theft from Americans! No more foreign rapists and child molesters!

Losing more than 20 million people would clear up our crowded highways and gridlock. Cleaner air and less drinking and driving American deaths by illegal aliens!

Drain on America ‘s economy; taxpayers harmed, employers get rich: over $80 billion annually wouldn’t return to their home countries by cash transfers. Illegal migrants earned half that money untaxed, which further drains America ‘s economy – which currently suffers an $8.7 trillion debt.

At least 400,000 anchor babies would not be born in our country, costing us $109 billion per year per cycle. At least 86 hospitals in California, Georgia and Florida would still be operating instead of being bankrupted out of existence because illegals pay nothing via the EMTOLA  Act. Americans wouldn’t suffer thousands of TB and hepatitis cases rampant in our country-brought in by illegals unscreened at our borders.

Our cities would see 20 million less people driving, polluting and grid locking our cities. It would also put the “progressives” on the horns of a dilemma; illegal aliens and their families cause 11 percent of our greenhouse gases.

Over one million of Mexico ‘s poorest citizens now live inside and along our border from Brownsville , Texas to  San Diego, California  in what the New York Times called, “colonias” or new neighbourhoods. Trouble is, those living areas resemble Bombay and Calcutta where grinding poverty, filth, diseases, drugs, crimes, no sanitation and worse. They live without sewage, clean water, streets, electricity, roads or any kind of sanitation. The New York Times reported them to be America ‘s new “ Third World ” inside our own country. Within 20 years, at their current growth rate, they expect 20 million residents of those colonias. (I’ve seen them personally in Texas and Arizona; it’s sickening beyond anything you can imagine.) By enforcing our laws, we could repatriate them back to Mexico.

High integrity, ethical invitation: we invite 20 million aliens to go home, fix their own countries and/or make
a better life in Mexico . We invite a million people into our country legally more than all other countries combined annually. We cannot and must not allow anarchy at our borders, more anarchy within our borders and growing lawlessness at every level in our nation.

It’s time to stand up for our country, our culture, our civilization and our way of life.

President Obama has decided to have a troop surge into Afghanistan. He is talking about sending an additional 30,000 American soldiers to Afghanistan to do…well…that really is a good question…to do what? And then the 30,000 troops will be withdrawn within approximately 18 months. Does anybody stop and ask why or what are thay hoping to accomplish while there? What will Afghanistan look like in 18 months when the Americans and Canadian forces pull out? Does anybody else get the funny feeling of deja vu about this conflict? Visions of another completely unwinnable Vietnam-style conflict?
