I readily admit that I am no expert on UN stuff and such, however, I am curious to know how a UN resolution to create a no-fly zone over Libya now has Canada embroiled in what can only be described as a Libyan civil war.

The UN resolution was supposed to impose a ”ban on all flights in Libyan airspace.” Instead the Libyan airspace has Canadian fighter jets flying over and bombing targets within Libya. Seems like a stretch from a no-fly zone to having Canadian jets dropping bombs on Libya.

Another curious consideration about the Libyan civil war, how do we know that we are backing or supporting the right side in this war. When did the discussion take place in our House of Parliament to let the people know that we are engaging in another war?

And finally, why is nobody on the election circuit talking about this new war that Canadians are now involved in? Curious indeed.

President Obama has decided to have a troop surge into Afghanistan. He is talking about sending an additional 30,000 American soldiers to Afghanistan to do…well…that really is a good question…to do what? And then the 30,000 troops will be withdrawn within approximately 18 months. Does anybody stop and ask why or what are thay hoping to accomplish while there? What will Afghanistan look like in 18 months when the Americans and Canadian forces pull out? Does anybody else get the funny feeling of deja vu about this conflict? Visions of another completely unwinnable Vietnam-style conflict?
